Just wanted to drop you a line saying how much I've been enjoying this series Ollie. It's got a quiet appeal that's really grown on me. As I've mentioned elsewhere, i love the fact that there's a DCF writer who knows enough science to write about it. Guys like me are eternally stuck using "Plasma Conduits" and "Heisenberg Compensators". But the strong suit of the series is the characters. People like Don Dawson, and the members of Horse. The flunkies that Duane Smithson overwhelms with his super-charisma, they all have a real sense of life about them. that makes it all so much for fun to read. What's also nice is Jack's refusal to get too caught up in the superhero cliches. Sort of reminds me of the Animal Man stories by Morison, in that Jack is aware of how ridiculous some of this stuff is. Keep it going!

well, my semester is almost over and i got a lot of fanfic that i decided to plow through right before the hectic stuff starts up again. so i figured i'll stop by and say something about them:

7) damage 4: now this is a weird series. it reminds me of resurrection man in it's strangeness...with a little nowhereman/prisoner thrown in. but it's also breaking that "journeyman" mode of the nowhereman/prisoner type series. there is a conspiracy and we all know it's there. but this conspiracy does not annoy me as much as the nowhereman/prisoner stuff. damage, at least to me, has some sort of direction it wants to go and i appreciate that.

that's all the reviews i have for now. i'll post more reviews once i got the time to read more stuff.

Wow. Weird hunh? Well now I have a rep to keep up. Don't worry though, being, or writing, weird has never been a problem for me.

The next is a post from D. David Lee, author of Green Lantern:DCF. It was regarding a battle in Green Lantern that took place in Cleveland (Damage's home) just before Damage started. I thought it was cool to see someone else use Cleveland, and I posted a message to that regard.

Luckily, the battle I described would have taken place some time between February and April of 2112, and Damage:DCF doesn't begin until May. Anyone who hasn't checked it out yet definitely should. He tells a very good story, takes things pretty slowly, and has an entertaining sense of humor. I zipped through the first four issues with lightning speed, and eagerly await a fifth. The only problems I had were with the typos and grammatical errors in all four of the issues. I'm also having trouble understanding how a discount clothing store chain [Ross] could evolve into a high-tech megalomaniacal corporation [Ross-Tech] in less than a century and a half, but that's just a minor sticking point. Heh. :)

Here is a letter from Rob Sparling after issue 6.

Damage Has Got to be the best series at DCF. Having a great cast, a really evil villain, one hell of an enticing plot, and a very human main character like Jack might be the reason it's so good. You should be commended on this series and I can't wait to read ish 7.

Here is a review by Tommy Hancock; DCF Continuity Editor, and documented insomniac. It was posted on the message board, along with reviews of several other titles.

DAMAGE-Oliver, we have to see more..Of this idea and of your writing. Very tight, very well crafted..a precision strike right on target. This is a re-read for me..I don't do that often, but this was so good it demanded it.

Thanks Tommy, more is in the works. I'm working on a one-shot right now, that takes place during the Attack of the Superbeasts storyline from Adventures of Superman. There's always the possibility of more one-shots. Also, Jack will show up elsewhere in the DCF. I'm looking forward to seeing how other writers handle the characters.

Leaping Lemur was goofy enough (J'onn J'onnz being coaxed out of catatonia by Oreos was, in and of itself, enough to make the story worthwhile), but Damage vs. SuperMickey...

Good work, the both of you. In the midst of the DCF dystopia, it's very refreshing to have some good, well-written light-hearted stuff.

I recently stumbled onto the DC Futures site. As a fan of DC characters and especially Superman, I'm glad to find a site where well written Supe fics are being done.

Your limited run Damage series is one of my favorite

Do have a question and think I find a flaw in the Futures continuity. The timeline says Superman disappeared in the sometime in the 2020(s). No one knew what became of him. However, in the Batman saga we learn he was in a comma all this time and has reawakened as Clark Kent.

However, in the 3rd or 4th Damage fic where locating kryptonite is being discussed, it is said Superman was killed by kryptonite. How does that square with Clark being alive in this DC Future universe?

Did I catch a contradiction in the DC Future storylines?

Either way, love your writing and hope you continue to contribute more to this fic site.

I didn't mean to say that Superman was actually killed by kryptonite. What I meant to do was contrast how kryptonite, would kill him. The quote was:

"So Kryptonite hurt Superman, weakened him, and eventually killed him. As where, for Jack, it hurts him, strengthens him, and eventually kills him."

I didn't mean to imply he had died, the character was speaking academically. Sorry for the confusion

Well, I've had a few others which I'll try to put here. I got a letter from Troy Dawson (someone I work with at Fermilab, who is into fanfic. And if you're curious, yes he's the source for the names, but not the personalities, of Troy Kayner and Don Dawson. I accidentally deleted the email (sorry Troy). Thanks for all the feedback!
